Google updates their “Improve your local ranking” page

Local businesses that rank higher on Google attract more new and repeat customers than those that struggle to be found. Recently, Google updated their own recommendations for how local businesses can boost their ranking.

Google encourages you to rank higher by improving your Google My Business listing in the following ways:

  • Enter complete data
  • Verify your location(s)
  • Keep your hours accurate
  • Manage and respond to reviews
  • Add photos

Google also said that they calculate your local businesses’ local search ranking based upon:

  • Relevance
  • Distance
  • Prominence

This information isn’t really all that new, but there are still some good tips here that a lot of businesses could easily implement.
