Only 44% of Local Retailers Have Claimed A Google My Business Listing?

We were pretty amazed to read a recent study that shows over 56% of local retailers still need to claim their Google My Business listing. In addition, nearly two-thirds haven’t claimed a business listing on Yelp. And over 82% haven’t claimed a business listing on Bing which is used for 1 in 5 US web searches.

A listing on Google My Business is one of the best, free digital marketing tactics for any local business. It’s critical to helping you get more customers when they search for you whether on their computer or on a mobile devices using either Google Search, Google Maps, or even the Google voice assistant.

What You Should Do About Google My Business

If you’re one of the companies that hasn’t yet claimed your Google My Business listing … or if you’re not sure … then don’t wait. Go out to www.google.com/business and claim the listing for your business. It’s not a difficult process, but it’s one of the best free digital marketing tactics you can do.

If you have already claimed your listing, have you checked it recently? Login and make sure your listing is fully optimized and up-to-date with your:

  • Name, Address, Phone and Website (NAP+W)
  • Proper business categories
  • Logos and photos (as many as you can)
  • Business hours
  • And other information about your business

A business listing that is claimed and fully optimized shows up higher in search results. And did we mention that it’s completely free?
